EPIC Academy

Report card pick up at most high schools is a circus event where parents and students scatter from table to table, meeting with 6 teachers and talking about students. At EPIC Academy, students are in the driver’s seat. We close down the school for two days, and Crew Leaders schedule 45 minute appointments with each parent/guardian in their Crew. Students work for weeks to prepare their presentation and when their parents arrive for their conference, students present their career and college plans, goals, current academic performance, and their steps to improve. At the end of the SLC, the students hold the responsibility for their grade and parents rave about the personal connection of the meeting and wealth of information that is communicated by their student.
